Teenage Smoking Can Lead to Drinking

This should come as no suprise to anyone. I have known teenagers that have smoked, and also had problems with drinking. It is no suprise that it is related. IT says that teens that smoke could be increasing there chances of having an alcohol usage disorder by as much as 50%. For the full story, click below…

“Teenagers who smoke are priming their brains for future addictions to alcohol and other drugs, alarming new research shows.

Experts have found that adolescents who regularly light up are 50 per cent more likely to go on to develop drink problems.”

O, and a bonus for the pot-heads out there:

“Other studies have found that cannabis can cause permanent damage to teenagers’ brains.

Researchers have found that the drug can cause permanent physical changes to the still-developing adolescent brain, which can lead to psychosis and schizophrenia in those worst affected.

As a result experts now warn teenagers who use cannabis are up to ten times as likely to develop serious mental illness as those who do not.”
