Bacon cups: Because everything is better with bacon

    February 29th, 2008

     spread_cupdetail.jpg

This actually looks pretty simple, and quite unhealthy (but awesome). Basically, turn over a muffin pan, cover it with foil, arrange the bacon on it, and bake it. The result is a tasty bowl for whatever you want to put in it. I guess you could try turkey bacon if you wanted to keep it healthy…

I just finished LOST and I am crying

    February 28th, 2008

**if you haven’t watched tonight’s episode, DO NOT READ**

That was one of the best episodes of LOST I think I have ever seen.  It answered a lot of questions, and REALLY tugged on the heart strings.  In fact, I was crying during the phonecall between Penny and Desmond.  It feels like something I have been waiting for for so long has finally happened (Desmond making contact with Penny), and we now know why Penny was looking for the island at the end of season 2.  That might be my favorite overall episode yet!

I would give a full synopsis, but I am really tired.  Tomorrow I will post a link to the best synopsis in town.

    I love this show!

Add a tuner to your guitar’s volume knob

    February 28th, 2008

    tuner.jpg

As a guitarist, the lighter your load, the better.  As it is now, every time I play, I have to hook up several pedals, one of which being a tuner pedal.  This nifty little invention would replace that, thus making my load a little bit lighter.

    From their website:

The N-Tune Onboard True Bypass Chromatic Tuner is the world’s most convenient solution for fast, accurate guitar tuning. Whether you’re in the studio or on stage, simply pull your guitar’s volume knob and use N-Tune’s super-bright display and silently tune up in seconds. Then push it back down to play — with perfect tone, thanks to N-Tune’s true bypass design which removes all tuning circuitry from your guitar’s signal path.

Third Day and Brad Avery part ways

    February 28th, 2008

It looks like 13 years of awesomeness is about to take a sharp turn. Brad Avery, lead guitarist of Third Day, is parting ways with the band. From the official Third Day blog:

Third Day and Brad Avery have made the very difficult decision to part ways.

We appreciate Brad’s many contributions to the band’s career to date, including his work on our forthcoming album, but the time has come for us to follow our separate paths.

He has been an important part of Third Day for the last 13 years as we’ve traveled the world together and performed over 1,000 concerts. We will miss him as a band member but he will always remain our brother and our friend. Brad is a wonderful person, gifted songwriter and talented musician. We trust that God has amazing plans for his future.

I have been a huge Third Day fan since 1994 or so, and Brad has been a big part of that.  He brought the rock to the band.  If you ever saw them in concert, you would always remember the funny faces he made while shredding on a solo.  I know Third Day will go on to make awesome music just like they have for the last 15 years or so, but this is still a pretty big blow.

    We’ll miss you, buddy!

Here is a picture from WAY back in the day.  Brad is on the far right. (click for larger image)

Question of the Day: post-Oscars edition

    February 28th, 2008

Here is your question of the day. Now, keep in mind, I am not asking for your favorite movies, but…

What are three movies you could watch over and over and over again?

This is pretty tough, but I would say that mine are:tommy_boy_1995.jpg

    1. Dumb and Dumber
    2. Tommy Boy
    3. Cloverfield

I know Cloverfield is relatively new, but I saw it twice, and after the 2nd time, I wanted to see it again. So it makes the list.

    Your turn!

…that in the picture of me in the previous post, it looks kind of like I have a mustache.  Ha!

    What I do all day

    February 27th, 2008

    2008-02-27-731751.JPG

No, I don’t look at my monitor and rock out to whatever is on my iPod. At least, not all day.

I use a program called WebEx to give virtual demonstrations of Nortel business phone equipment to potential customers (small businesses). That means several cameras set up in my cube at work all pointing at phones, etc. I can show how certain things are done on these phones, and 9 times out of 10, the customer loves it and wants to buy. The customer also can see me, which puts a personal touch on dealing with a massive company like the one I work for.

So, what do you do all day?
