Hit by a car

Last night, I was driving home from dinner.  As I approached my neighborhood, I saw a car pulled over on the side of the road and a woman waving me down. I pulled over behind her, and as my car slowed to a stop, I noticed a second person lying on the ground.  I got out of the car and asked what happened.  Apparently, this lady had hit the second person with her car and sent the other person flying through the air off to the side of the road.  Needless to say, I called the police.

While we waited for the police/ambulance, the struck woman started moving, showing signs of life.  She kept saying “I need to get up, I am in a lot of pain”.  I kept telling her that she needed to just be still and that an ambulance was on the way.  She finally gave in and decided to remain still.

A cop finally showed up, followed by a fire truck and two ambulances.  At this point, help had come and my presence was no longer needed.  I still stayed there until she was in the ambulance.  I kind of felt like it was my duty to be with her, although several feet away, until she was safely loaded in the ambulance.

She was taken off, and I left to go home.

This lady will most likely be just fine, and I will probably never see her again.  It was just a surreal experience to be a part of all of that.

That was my Sunday night.
