It's official: HD DVD is dead, the format war is finally over

Toshiba just made a statements saying, “It will no longer develop, manufacture and market HD DVD players and recorders.” As an early adopter of HD-DVD with my Xbox 360 HD-DVD drive and a dozen movies (all of which I have since sold), I was really rooting for HD-DVD. Not that it was better than Blu-Ray in any way. Come on, folks, it was basically the same quality. I guess it was more of an anti-Sony thing. Anyways, I guess that it is all over for HD-DVD now, so I will have to submit to Sony’s standard.

O well, it sure was fun, HD-DVD. I will cherish our memories forever.

You know all this news about the death of HD-DVD would be great and all if I could actually afford to buy a Blu-Ray player. But since that’s not the case, I’m not sure I care. So good-bye, HD-DVD, I never got to know you and I guess I never will.

I agree. I sold all my hd-dvd’s about 6 months ago because 1) I needed the money, and 2) it is still so expensive, especially now that BR is the only option. So for now, I could care less. I will stick with my regular dvd’s until BR is more affordable.

I’m a broke ass and all I can afford is regular DVDs. I don’t even have cable TV so I’m a little behind in the times.

    If I didn’t buy dvd’s, I wouldn’t be as broke as I am!
