Best Buy sent me a $50 Gift Card!

I opened the mail yesterday to find a letter from Best Buy saying that because I had bought an HD-DVD drive around a year ago or so, and since HD-DVD had essentially lost the HD format war, they were giving me a $50 gift card.  Now, I sold my HD-DVD player several months ago, so I made back some of the money.  But, I really was not expecting this.

My hat goes off to Best Buy for looking out for their customers.  They certainly didn’t have to do that, but I’m glad they did!

  • Here we go!!!
  • Here we go!!!
  • I sure hope so!

  • Rather impressive, I guess they are hoping you spend more than $50. They have been taking a customer service beating lately...maybe this will help.

  • That is some wishful thinking!

Yeah, this is a pretty uncharacteristic move for Best Buy. It was crazy (in a good way) enough of them to offer the Gift Cards to people who came in to the store with HDDVD receipts, but mailing them out? Next thing you know, they'll adopt one of those "the customer is always right" policies....yeah right.
