Awesome Cover of the Day – All I Want (Toad the Wet Sprocket)

Remember that song from back in the 90’s called “All I Want”, by Toad the Wet Sprocket?  Yeah, that one.  Well, there is a cd called “Punk Goes 90’s”, and on that cd is a cover of Toad’s song.  The band covering it is called Emery, and they are really good.  Of all of the covers I have ever heard, this one might be the best.  It’s different from the original, but in some ways, it’s better (in my opinion of course). Listen for the harmonies, they are almost chilling…

Here it is for you to listen to (hit the little play button next to the title).  Enjoy!

  • I need to get that cd. I am trying to piece together in my head a punk version of the Paula Abdul song, so I would be interested in hearing it. You know, they also have a "Punk Goes Hip Hop" cd. Could be good!

  • Yeah I do have that CD and I love it! Well most of the songs anyway, some just plain suck. Midtown's cover of I don't Want To Lose Your Love Tonight is my favorite on the CD. I just really like that song no matter who covers it. The original is great, this cover is great, and Wyclef did an awsome reggae version. The CD even made Paula Abdul's song Straight Up sound good.

  • Yeah, that's back when music wasn't so cookie-cutter. By the way, I think I read on your blog that you have the Punk Goes 80's cd, or something like that. That's the same series as this song came from. What great compilations!

  • OOHH, I had forgotten about that song! A couple of weeks ago I was going through all my old blank tapes listening to what I had recorded from the radio...aahh, the good 'ol days of recording from the radio...anyway, the songs were almost all from the 90's and most of them I had long forgotten. And I realized a lot of groups came out at the same time that all sounded the same and had semi-similar names: Everlast, Everclear, Tonic, SemiSonic, Eve 6, Lit, ect. Great trip down memory lane!
