Movies watched this weekend (and my thoughts)
This long weekend made for a lot of movie-watching time. Here are some flicks I watched this weekend:
Vantage Point - This move got really bad reviews, but I actually kind of liked it. I enjoyed the story telling mode, but I thought they showed it from too many different points of view. Still, not as bad as everyone made it out to be.
The Omega Man - The is the 1971 version of last year’s I Am Legend. The main character this time is played by Charlton Heston. The story was a little different, especially during the 2nd half. The effects were on par for the time period, but the music was horrible. The 2007 version is a LOT creepier than this one.
American Gangster – 3 hours long, it tried to be another Goodfellas. It was pretty good, and actually held my attention for the whole movie. Goodfellas it’s not, but still, it is a good “rise and fall” movie.
First Sunday – I turned it off about 10 minutes into it. It’s not worthy of a picture.
The Great Debaters – Wow, great movie. Denzel Washington is a great actor, but almost everyone in this movie, including the actors I had never seen before, were great. This movie deals with a great group of debaters at an all African-American college in the 1930’s. This was the best of all the movies I watched this weeknd. Check it out!
Definitely Maybe – Even though it is a chick flick, and I am not a chick, it was a great movie. Ryan Reynolds is a great actor, and he did a great job in this one. It kept me guessing till the end.
