Ice to Drink ratio finally solved

There are a couple of things in my life that I hold close to me. Faith in God, the love of family and friends, and of course, the “ice-to-drink” ratio. Whenever you go out to eat, and you order a soft drink (herein referred to as a “coke”, since I am from the South and all), something that is important, but often overlooked, is how much ice comes in the cup or glass. Stereotypically:
Too much ice = not enough drink, but hey, it’s cold.
Not enough/no ice = Plenty of drink, but not cold enough
See, there is such a fine line in trying to get the ice:drink ratio correct. Or so I thought. It turns out that a coke can be almost the same cool temperature with either lots of ice or “medium” ice (ie more drink). Check this out:
Wired magazine’s obsessive data geeks bought three sodas—full ice, no ice, and “go easy”—and found that the middle ground, with about three ounces of ice, brings a 32-ounce drink to 36 degrees Fahrenheit, and has the lowest per-degree cost of cooling. (Lifehacker)
So there you have it. Next time, ask for “medium” ice to go with the coke. You’ll still get a chilly beverage, but more of it. Now, if we could only nail down the ratio when you throw freshly brewed tea into the mix…

I like 0 ice, and it in a cold can myself.

I’ll take it in a can if I have to, but out of the fountain is so much better!
In my drinking experience, which is vast I might add, I’ve also found medium ice is good.
If I make a cocktail at home I only put like 3 or 4 cubes in. Don’t want that shit watered down.

@Steve – Right on, man. When it’s watered down, you might as well dump it out.
