10 Shoes You Should Never Be Caught Wearing

When it comes to footwear, I’m pretty simple.  I have my running shoes, my work shoes, and then flip flops for everything else.  I came across this list, and I have to say, I mostly agree with it.  For example:

Birkenstocks
Inconceivably comfortable or not, the idea of paying $100+ for a pair of sandals seems absurd; especially when those $120 sandals make you look like that kid you went to college with, who skipped class to smoke doobies and listen to “Dark Side of the Moon” backwards.

Buying comfortable shoes is important, and you should always be willing to drop a few extra bucks for shoes that your feet will enjoy wearing. But if you’re going to splurge, at least make sure the shoes you’re buying will make you look good. Never sacrifice style for comfort.

I once paid a LOT of money for a pair of those things.  They were so uncomfortable, and it blew my mind that people actually enjoyed them.  “O, but Adam, they eventually mold to the shape of your foot”.  No, they don’t.  They hurt.

Ah man, I love my Skate Shoes. ~$20 at Target every 2-3 years.

And for the record, flip flops are EVIL. How can you wear something so noisy?

  • MTAE, just when I thought you and I could hang. You would have to get used to my flip flops. It's a non-negotiable.

  • I have many "rules". One of them is a "I don't want to see your feet" rule.

I won't show you mine and I don't want to see yours. We invented covered shoes a long time ago for a reason.

  • Are you getting paid by Birkenstocks to say that? I think so.

  • You're smoking doobies and listening to Dark Side backwards! I STILL have a pair of Birks I got in high school and they are uber-comfy. I don't wear them as much now because I'm an adult and don't wear a name tag at work. I think the reason they are so expensive is because they are so durable. Unlike a ripoff pair of Walmart clogs I bought for $25, the Birkenstocks break in but don't break down. Do you have a pair of shoes that are still publicly acceptable that are 7+ years old? Also, everyone knows The Wall is the only Pink Floyd album listening to backwards.

  • Man, I had some of those too. Except the kind that cover your foot (clogs I think?) They did hurt! I tried to break them in by wearing them all the time, by the end of the day I was slinging them off my feet because they hurt so bad. One of the things I do regret buying.
