I think I have minor OCD

When it comes to certain things in my life, I tend to get a little obsessive about organization.  Let me explain with a few examples:

Email

Whenever email comes in, I will read it and archive it (gmail’s version of deleting it without really deleting it).  The only time I will keep the email in my inbox is if it’s something I need to do.  hen, the email serves as a reminder that I need to do it.  Right now, I have an email from my cousin with his address on it because I need to mail him something.  The email serves as a reminder of that.  As soon as I do it, I will trash the email.  My boss at work never deletes anything out of his inbox, and it drives me bananas.  How can someone live like that?!?!   I can’t stand having non-new emails in my inbox.

iPhone/iPod

When it comes to listening to music, I rely solely on the tunes I have on my iPhone.  Because space is limited, I compulsively switch out what is on it.  My method is this:  I will make a playlist of a full album.  I will do that for maybe 10-15 albums at a time, and then listen to those while driving/at work.  When I get home, I look forward to removing the ones I listened to that day and add new ones.  Why do I take pleasure in this?  No idea.

Shows on the DVR

I don’t watch live TV anymore.  Instead, I will see what my crappy DirecTV DVR has recorded, and start watching that.  Much like the playlists and the email inbox, I enjoy deleting the show off of the DVR almost as much as watching it itself.  I am seeing a trend here…

So there you have it.  I think that if I was the type to make a to-do list, I would add stuff I had already done just for the joy of crossing it off of the list.

Anyone else like this (at least a little)?

New Toilet Paper : Absolutely must be coming forward over the top, not hanging from behind. I've adjusted people's rolls in their home.

Yes! That's a good one to add to the list. TP should ever be the other way!

Uhm, for me, computer must not have one desktop icon (at all;NONE). I absolutely hate them.

I hear you. I have 3 icons on my desktop. My buddy Paul has about a hundred on his. How is that even possible?

Really? I understand, they are a lot thinner than a typical keyboard. Other than that, how do you like it. You can be honest…:)

I can relate to the DVR. Now I absolutely HATE watching commercials. If I want to watch live, I'll start a show 30 minutes late just to skip the commercials anyway. I might not do that for BSG on Friday though. I heard it is going a few minutes over and DVRs are likely to miss the ending (which could be really important.)

As for e-mail… I'm the opposite of you. I have never used the archive feature, although I do have my inbox separated into lots of different categories. But I leave e-mails hanging around in the original inbox FOREVER. I think there are 200 in there now?

I know that some DVR's have the option to start the recording a few minutes early and end a few minutes late if you want. I would hate it when my recording would cut of right before the “next week on LOST” clip.

Regarding the email, to each his/her own, I guess :)

It was alright, it was hard to type and I felt like I was just going through the motions. I didnt really have any personal issues with it placement wise so it will have to work ;)
