Crock Pot Cooking, part 1

42-17499996

I have a confession to make.  I have never cooked anything in a crock pot.  I have eaten plenty of food prepared in them, but I have never been the one to do the preparing.  Well, I want to change that.  Apparently, it’s super easy to make some tasty meals in them, and I think I can also save a good bit of money.  I will post a part 2 as soon as I actually follow through with this.

Do any of you have any experience doing this?  Any good recipes?

Can you imagine the queso it could make. Oh my goodness, I am salivating now.
  • I Beef Round (rump, its the shoulder...) and peperchinies and a package of italian dressing (the dried stuff) and put it all together, put it on low for 8 hours (like everything else) and serve on bun, enjoy your po'boys.

Crock pots make amazing dip too.. check cooks.com for some goodies.

  • I do not own one, but after Patrick's description of that roast, that may change :-)!
  • no kidding, it seems almost TOO easy
  • i *heart* my crock pot something fierce. but it is difficult to master. i think i've only ever made two or three roasts that didn't turn out dry :-( -- alas, i shall keep trying
  • I guess you need to add more beer, right? :)
  • Oh yeah, also add 1 package of onion soup mix (comes what looks like a one of those little kool-aid pack )- it should be in the soup aisle - or you can probably ask someone at the store and they will know.
  • -Go get a Roast
-Wash it off, put it in the crock pot.
-Add 1 can of Cream of Mushroom, fill the empty can up with water and pour it on top of the roast/cream of mushroom.
-Add some 'baby carrots' and sliced little round potatos (the kind with the reddish skin).
-Cook on 'Warm' while your at work for 8 hours. Come home to a house that smells awesome and the food tastes just as good - plenty of leftovers too!
  • replace the water with beer for a truly tasty treat ;-)
  • That sounds REALLY good. Thanks!
