Question of the Day: post-Oscars edition

    February 28th, 2008

Here is your question of the day. Now, keep in mind, I am not asking for your favorite movies, but…

What are three movies you could watch over and over and over again?

This is pretty tough, but I would say that mine are:tommy_boy_1995.jpg

    1. Dumb and Dumber
    2. Tommy Boy
    3. Cloverfield

I know Cloverfield is relatively new, but I saw it twice, and after the 2nd time, I wanted to see it again. So it makes the list.

    Your turn!

Question of the Day - Day Off Edition

    February 15th, 2008

I took the day off today.  As I type this (at 11:20am), I am still in my pajamas, watching Survivor, with no intention of changing that any time soon.  So this leads me to today’s Question of the Day:

Have you ever worn your pajamas in public?

For me, the answer is yes.  In college I would wear them to class at times, especially when I was running late.  I think that it is totally acceptable while in college since so many did it.  But yeah, if class is at 8am and you wake up at 7:53, the PJ’s are making an appearance in class.

    How about you?

    Question of the Day

    February 8th, 2008

What pushes your buttons?  What can really get your going?  What will it take to get your stand up on your soap box?

Wow, there are so many.  One big one is when someone gets a far worse punishment than they deserve for something; when there is an injustice due to a technicality.

For example, last year, someone in Virginia was arrested for filming 20 seconds of Transformers on their little point-and-shoot camera.  It was this girl’s 19th birthday, and she and her friends were just goofing off.  Check this out:

Sejas liked the movie so much that she decided to film a short clip of the movie to share with her little brother. She thought he would also like to come see the movie at the theater. She filmed 20 seconds of the “Transformers” movie so that she could show it to him later and see if he might like to go see the movie.

Ok, no harm done really.  If anything, she was going to bring in business to the theater.

Regal Cinemas of Ballston Commons in Arlington, Virginia pressed charges against Sejas and wanted to make an example of her in an effort to stop movie piracy.

For goodness sake.  O, and about this supposed “criminal”?

Sejas is a Bolivian immigrant who works two part-time jobs in order to pay for her college education in the United States. She had no criminal record and was terrified by the police. She and her boyfriend had no idea what they had done wrong, and had not realized that filming the 20 second clip to share with her younger brother was against the law.

See, this kind of stuff really gets me going.  Sometimes, even though the law is the law, I think exceptions should be made.  Especially in cases like this where clearly no harm was being done, and she just wanted to get her brother to come see the movie.  This is an injustice, and this kind of crap happens all of the time!

So there is my answer.  How about you?

    A Couple of Questions

    February 6th, 2008

I came across some random, thought provoking questions online this morning and I thought I would answer them. There were a lot more, so be looking for more of these in the future. But for now, feel free to comment, and to answer them yourself in the comments. Here we go:

    1. If you could sport any accent, what accent would you speak with for the rest of the day?

I would have to say an Australian accent. That is HANDS DOWN my favorite accent of all time. If a female is speaking with one, I get the urge to propose. And how manly is the phrase “That’s not a knife, this is a knife!” from Crocodile Dundee. And come to think of it, the 2nd season of Survivor was my favorite. You know, the one in the Australian Outback? So, I would want an Australian accent. And I would use the Dundee line as often as I could.

    2. If you won a million dollars and had to spend ALL of it — every last penny, what would you spend it on?

    I would do the following:

    • Pay off any and all debts
    • Build a Mac Pro configuration that can only be referred to as “bitchin’”
    • In addition to the Mac Pro, do a “technology upgrade” of my entire house
    • A new car. Or maybe just fix mine
    • Buy my mom a new house
    • Probably spend the rest on Wal Mart gift certificates. You can get almost everything there!

What about you? What accent would you speak for a day, and what would you do with the money?
