I just got an email today regarding a video I had up on Youtube. The video was of the band Third Day playing a song on Leno several months ago. That was it, just a chance for people to see the performance if they had missed it when it originally was broadcast.

Fast forward today. I received this in my inbox:

Dear adamriggins5108,

Your video “Third Day Live on The Tonight Show 7.29.2008″ has been identified by YouTube’s Content Identification program as containing copyrighted content which NBC Universal claims is theirs.

Your video is no longer available because NBC Universal has chosen to block it.

That’s so lame! What do you think? Is NBC being just a little uptight, or are they acting reasonably?

By the way, here is that video on Vimeo, just to stick it back to the man.

I was having a talk with my friend Kristina the other day, and she told me that someone should NEVER wear running shoes with jeans. I disagreed, saying that is was perfectly fine, especially if you are trying to be casual. In fact, I rock that style all the time. (Author’s note: I apologize for using the phrase “rock that style). So I looked it up online.

According to AskMen.com, wearing jeans and running shoes are permitted ONLY when:

1- You want to be comfortable; slip on running shoes with your Levi’s
2- You want a fresh relaxed look
3- You have good sneakers. Anything old or ripped should not be worn
4- Running shoes are clean (you do not want to look like a mechanic)
5- You put on a nice fitted sweater or shirt to go with your ensemble. The baggy look is for children
6- Your jeans are slightly fitted; it looks better
7- You have solid color running shoes; stay away from multi-colored spaceship looking ones
8- You wear dark colored jeans
9- The occasion is fitting (don’t wear runners to a trendy nightspot)

So what are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments so we can settle this once and for all!

How would you feel knowing that you were living without a heart in your body? For me, I honestly cannot imagine it, but I have a feeling that it would be pretty surreal. The most important organ you have is non-existent. I cannot even imagine!

Well, D’Zhana Simmons, 14, of South Carolina, lived just like that for 118 days. She had a heart condition that caused her to have to have a transplant. The new heart didn’t work out well, and it had to be removed immediately. With no heart, she was placed on a machine that worked as an artificial heart for 118 days until receiving the new heart. Unbelievable!

“You never knew when it would malfunction,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper, at a news conference at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center.

“It was like I was a fake person, like I didn’t really exist. I was just here,” she said of living without a heart.

Anyone who works out while listening to music probably knows this already, but now, studies show that listening to music can boost your workout performance by as much as 20%

Anyone who works out while listening to music probably knows this already, but now, studies show that listening to music can boost your workout performance by as much as 20%

For example:

…James Cracknell, who rowed to glory and into the record books at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, said that listening to the Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ album “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” was an integral part of his pre-race preparation.

The Olympic super-heavyweight champion Audley Harrison listens to Japanese classical music before a fight to calm his nerves, said Dr Karageorghis.

As exercise begins, the music tempo can be synchronized to work rates to help regulate movement and prolong performance.

During this phase music can also help to narrow attention and divert your mind from sensations of fatigue.

So, choose some music, make sure it’s a good, upbeat tempo, and get running! It will help you go further than you would without it!

For you Windows users* out there, a constant threat that you have to be prepared for is getting a virus on your PC. To make matters worse, there are tons of different flavors of Anti-Virus software that all claim to do the same thing, and all claim to be the best. So how do you know which is the best one?

AV Comparatives is a company that exist for one reason: to infect computers with thousands of viruses, then use each AV program to clean it up, and then give the results. The report on the percentage of viruses that each one found.

The results really speak for themselves. On one hand, you have Avira AntiVir Premium, which found 99.2% of all of the viruses/spyware that it was infected with. Not 100%, but pretty darn close, and it was the best of the bunch.

On the other hand, you have VirusBlokAda VBA32 Anti-Virus, which not only has a horrible name, but also a detection rate of only 86.5% overall. Not so great.

So, head over to AV Comparitives to see how your AV software compares. Good luck!

What is one goal you’d like to accomplish during your lifetime?

For where I am in my life right now, it would be to become overall “fit”. Physically fit, financially fit, and spiritually fit. I know that each one of those is is not really something you accomplish and then are done with it, but I would like to get to a point where all of it is under control, and I am making the right decisions. Make sense?
