Watch this commercial with the volume down

I was out running some errands a while ago, and I saw a TV with this commercial on. Only, the tv was muted. Something about it made it even funnier considering I couldn’t hear the music they were singing to. Hey, it takes very little to amuse me.

I just cracked a handset

t7316-front.pngWhere I work, we sell digital phone systems made by Nortel.  The main phone we sell is also the one that we use here at our desks.  They are great phones, but even great phones have their limits.

It has been said around these parts that these phones are so durable that cars can run over them.  Well, we were joking around about that, so I thought it would be a good idea to stand on the handset-part of the phone.  So I disconnected it, laid it on the floor, and started to stand on it.  I mean, hey, a car can run over it and it will be fine, right?  Wrong.

It made a loud CRACK sound, at which point I stepped off of it.  Would it have completely broken in half?  Maybe?  We all were rolling on the floor laughing at that.  A car won’t hurt it, but I will.

I need to lay off the hot wings.

Starbucks agrees to WiFi with AT&T - still not free for everyone though

normal_starbucks-logo-rgb.jpgAlmost EVERY coffee shop you go to these days that is not called “Starbucks” offers free internet to anyone who comes in.  It is sort of the standard.  Why is it that Starbucks, easily the largest chain of coffee shops, charges for internet?  Sure, now if you are an AT&T customer, it will be free for you, but big deal.  Make it free like everyone else!
