Everything You Need to Know About Steak

Esquire has put together a great article on everything you need to know about steak.  For example:

The Grades of Meat: Prime: What you want. Typically found only at fine butcher shops, its interlacing of intramuscular fat–like a cobweb–assures tenderness, juiciness, and flavor. · Choice: Pretty good. More affordable and accessible than prime, moderate marbling still yields juicy, flavorful cuts. · Select: You’re on a plane.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, but as you can see from this picture of me from 6 years ago, I clearly know all about steak:

Ok, maybe not.  That is a disturbing image.  Mackalicious, why did you let me do that?

Anyway, make sure you read the manly article if you are a fan of steak!

A plate of hot wing goodness

Last night, I had a hot wing feast with my dad at Zaxby’s. I have posted about Zaxby’s before, and it really is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. In fact, I think the “teriakular” wing is my favorite flavor right now. Anyways, here was the feast (click for the full-size):

That is a plate of 20 teriyaki wings with nuclear sauce poured on top. Just think about that for a second. Let it soak in. Ok, we’re back.

There is nothing healthy about this plate of food, so it won’t happen again for a long time, but tonight’s meal will be remembered for a long time to come.

Have Fast Food Nutritional Info Texted to You

If you are ever out getting fast food and have the urge to find out the nutritional info on whatever you are getting, send a text message to 34381 with the name of what you are getting.  Diet.com will instantly text you right back with some of the nutrition info.

To test this, I texted ‘wendys frosty” to 34381, and here is what I got back:

As you can see, it sent me info for a small Wendy’s Frosty.  Pretty neat.  So let’s recap:

1.  Make a new text message

2.  In the body of the message, type the restaurant name and the item you want to know about

3.  Send it to 34381

4.  Cry at the information you receive back knowing that yes, those fries really are that bad for you.

The Varsity - an Atlanta classic

The Varsity. Those two words make me so happy. You see, my friend, The Varsity is a restaurant in Atlanta that is sort of an Atlanta staple. It has been here fore several decades, and anyone who lives here has eaten there before.

What kind of food do they have, you ask? Greasy, delicious, artery clogging food. Hamburgers, chili dogs, onion rings, fries, etc. When you walk up to the counter, “Whadaya have!?!?!” is yelled at you. Seriously, that is how they take your order. It is kind of like the Soup Nazi in Seinfeld. You order, then step to the side and remain silent. But you see, it’s all part of the experience.

I just had lunch there, and I was reminded of how much of a defining part of Atlanta this is. Next time you are in the area, stop on by.

Whadaya have!
