Cost to Drive - How much it costs to drive somewhere
Oct 20, 2008 Found Online
I posted on something like this before, but if you are going to take a trip, this might be a helpful tool in planning your expenses. For example, if I had driven my own car down to go camping last week, it would have cost me roughly $35:
This is cool because it gives you some more info besides the cost. Plus, there are links for actual directions if you want them.
Man passes gas on a cop, gets charged. Wait, what?

Allegedly, a man was taken to a police station due to suspicion of being under the influence of alcohol. He requested to use the restroom because of an upset stomach and was denied the privilege. And then it happened:
As Patrolman T.E. Parsons prepared the machine, Cruz scooted his chair toward Parsons, lifted his leg and “passed gas loudly,” the complaint said.
Cruz, according to complaint, then fanned the gas toward the officer.
“The gas was very odorous and created contact of an insulting or provoking nature with Patrolman Parsons,” the complaint alleged.
I love Cruz’s reason for doing it:
“I couldn’t hold it no more”.
What kind of society do we live in where we cannot break wind in the direction of an officer of the law, especially when using the restroom has been requested and denied? In the the words of Gary Jules, we are in a “mad world”.

Gas Station Madness!
Sep 27, 2008 Grab Bag
I just got back from the gas station. Keep in mind, it’s 1 am right now. Here are some things worth mentioning:
The guy on the left was the “BP Crew”, as his nifty little vest said. He would direct traffic and then proceed to yell at you if you had a gas can to fill up.
Here he is again directing traffic. Notice the line of cars down the road. That was the line for gas at MIDNIGHT.
Finally getting gas!

Overall, it was a pretty darn exciting time. Do I know how to spend a Friday night or what?!?!1

Want to save money? Try giving up some “nessessities”.

Here are a few of the 12 things that many of us consider an integral part of life, and that also tend to lighten the ol’ wallet. With many of these, simplifying, or even giving it up all together, will save you quite a bit of moo-lah. So, if you are trying to cut costs, here are some good ideas to try.
Daily Latte
Switch to CRUNK!!! and you will save a few bucks a week!
Cable TV
There was a time where I canceled my cable to save some money, and instead just bought the shows I wanted to watch on iTunes. Doing so, I saved around $400 in a year’s time.
Second Car
I know quite a few people who have consolidated down to one car. It’s obvious all you would save in gas money, but also in insurance and maintenance. And who knows, you might meet your next best friend while waiting on the bus.

How much does it cost you to drive one mile?
Jul 2, 2008 Current Events, Grab Bag
If you know just how much it costs to drive around town, it might keep you from making unnecessary trips, thus, saving you money. So, how much does it cost for you to drive a mile? Don’t know? That’s ok, here’s how you find out:
- Next time you fill up your gas tank, reset your odometer.
- Then, when you have to fill up again, take note of how much it costs to fill up
- Divide the fill-up cost by the number of miles you were able to drive on that last tank.
- Bada bing, bada boom, there is your average cost-per-mile (at least for that tank)
For me, it’s right at $.25/mile. It really puts things into perspective when I realize that to drive across town, it will cost me 10 bucks or so EACH WAY. Maybe I should just stay home!
Anyways, do this and report back. OR, if you already have, what’s the damage?
Jim Carey reminds us about how cheap gas used to be
Ever seen the movie “Me, Myself, and Irene”? It is a HILARIOUS movie that I watched over the weekend. Anyways, while watching it, I noticed something in the background of one scene:
Ahhh, those were the days… $1.13 for the cheap stuff. The cheapest gas near me right now is $3.98/gallon, so seeing this made me smile, yet at the same time, sad at how much it has risen in the 8 years since this movies release.
Remember those days?

Gee, I didn’t see that one coming

Sometimes you read a news story that makes you ask yourself “Well what did they expect?!”. This would be one of those stories:
DARTMOUTH, Mass. (AP) — Authorities say a couple trying to beat the high cost of gasoline accidentally caused a fire that burned their apartment complex.
Fire Chief Richard Arruda says the couple had about 45 gallons of gasoline in nine plastic jugs stacked in a closet that also housed an air conditioning unit.
The gasoline fumes apparently set off Thursday’s fire, which was quickly put out by a sprinkler system.
No one was seriously hurt, but residents of eight units of the complex were displaced.
Investigators believe the couple was storing the gas because of rising prices. Officials say they might face civil penalties for violating the fire code.
