20 Diseases/Conditions Directly Attributed To Being Overweight

As someone who has been trying to lose weight recently, this list of 20 diseases caused by being a fatty-fat-fat kind of hit home.  Look at these as 20 reasons to better your health.  Here are a few:

Lymph edema is a condition that occurs from a damaged or dysfunctional lymphatic system sometimes caused by people suffering from obesity actually crushing the lymphatics.

Cellulitis is clinically a spreading infection involving both the dermis and subcutaneous tissues due poor lymph flow caused by obesity.

Stroke is a lack of blood supply as the body has to work harder when you are obese.

Pickwickian Syndrome is mainly characterized by sleep apnea due to obesity placing an excessive load on the pulmonary system.

Depression is a condition where a person feels extremely sad all the time. Even to the point of being suicidal. This can be greatly enhanced for someone that has a weight problem.

Osteoarthritis is a clinical syndrome in which low-grade inflammation results in pain in the joints, caused by abnormal wearing of the cartilage oftentimes due to obesity.

Tea can be healthier than water?

The BBC News is reporting on a, um, report that says that drinking tea can be just as healthy, if not healthier, than drinking plain water.  Research has found that not only does it rehydrate just as well, but it also contains ingredients that can help prevent heart attack, as well as being good for the teeth.

Now, as someone born down here in the South, I have a feeling that adding a cup of sugar to the tea sort of goes against any health benefits.  But, I have actually come to find that unsweet tea with lemon is not all bad.

I know, call me a tratior.

First off, I did not post my weigh-in last week.  I was out of town, and even though I brought my scale with me AND weighed in, I sort of just forgot to post it.  As far as the result, I gained 3 pounds.

Really?  I couldn’t lose .6 more pounds?  Seriously though, I am so excited about this week.  I am really hoping that next week will be the one where I pass my goal.

This week was a pretty normal week.  Thursday night, I think I ate my weight in chips and salsa (with also a little wueso queso), so I was weak there.  But everything else was pretty good.  On to the weigh-in:

So I lost .6 pounds.  Hey, a loss is a loss.  I’m only 3.4 away from my goal, I will try and knock that out his week.

Well, the losing streak is over.  And in this challenge, that is not a good thing!

So I’m up 2 pounds.  And to top things off, I strained my foot during my jog Friday, so I am limping right now.  I hope I heal soon so I can get back into the swing of things!
