Use your iPhone to find your car

Saturday, I went to Turner Field to see the Atlanta Braves play some baseball. When I got to my parking place, my first thought was to look around me to see how I could find my car in the sea of cars after the game. Then it hit me: use the GPS.

I opened up Google Maps, had it locate me, then I dropped a pin to identify the location.

After the game, I just walked towards the dot. It was accurate within about 3 feet.

So you see, there’s another great use for a 3G iPhone- using it I find your car in a huge parking lot.

Use ONLY the iPhone for a week?

For the last week and a half or so, I have been the proud owner of an iPhone.  So far it has blown me away in all that it can do, and it got me to thinking… Could I go a week without using my personal laptop at home and just use my iPhone instead?  I have internet, the ability to post here, and email.  Sure, I can’t edit video, but for casual use, I bet I could get away with it.

I’m toying with the idea for now, but who knows…

Posting from my iPhone!

As you can see, Wordpress came out with their app for the iPhone. So far it looks AND works beautifully!

3G iPhone rumors are apparently true

On Monday, Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone at WWDC.  Rumors have been flying around for months about how it would be different than the currant one, and the 2 biggies were that it would be 3G (high speed internet), and have built-in GPS.

Both of these add-ons would make it such a HUGE contender in the smartphone market, so these being true is big news.  For me, having built-in GPS would be just plain awesome, especially if they can tie it in with location-based advertising.  For example, if I am in the city, my phone can show me the nearest whatever I’m looking for to me instanatly.

Anyhoo, the folks over at Engadget have received some details from the firmware (the software that the new phone will run), and according to that, it looks like those rumors are true.  I will spare you the technical details, so for more, head on over to Engadget.

iPhone + MS Exchange = Crazy Delicious

iphone.jpgAnyone catch the refrence?

Anyways, Apple announced today that  starting in June, the iPhone will fully support Microsoft Exchange, a la Blackberry style.  In other words, you can use it just like a Blackberry at work.  I don’t use a Blackberry, but if I did, I would switch in a heartbeat.

Anyone out there planning on dropping the Crackberry for an iPhone?

iPhone run over by 18-wheeler, still works

iph_080131_iphonerunss3.jpg

A Kansas man has posted photos of his fully functional iPhone after the device flew off the trunk of his car at freeway speeds, only to be run over by a semi truck traveling at an estimated 70 miles-per-hour.

Now, I don’t know about you, but my crap-tastic phone will barely survive me talking on it. It’s awesome that a phone that looks and funtions amazingly also is actually rugged.
