Movie Theater Snacks
Nov 14, 2008 Movies
When you go to the movies, do you buy drinks and/or snacks? Tickets to just see the movie are $10 or so, and then if you want a snack, you’re looking at another $5 minimum. Personally, I will buy some candy somewhere else and just bring it it. I’ll even sneak in a can of Coke if I’m feeling thirsty.
I admit it, I sneak my own snacks in.
What about you? Do you spend a small fortune at the movies or do you bring your own snacks?
“Crash” and life
Oct 31, 2008 Movies, Thoughts, me
I recently watched the movie “Crash”, and it totally solidified something that has been on my heart for a while now.
You see, each one of us has such a complex life, full of joys and struggles. And for each of us, these things that make up our lives are so big to us. One thing I think we often forget is that each person we see, even if just in passing, has a world of joys and struggles as well.
Watching this movie brought another angle into the equation. You see, even though we all have such big, life-sized thing going on all the time, we are also such an integral part of each others lives. I think a lot of times, we don’t even know it.
In the movie, you see several different characters dealing with all kinds of crap that life brings you. They all end up interacting with each other, and that plays a big role in how life turns out for each of them.
Take me for example. I have finally decided to improve my health all because I read someone’s blog a few months ago and it inspired me to do so. Carlos will probably never know that he helped save a life, but he did. His actions have changed the outcome of my life, and who knows, maybe I have inspired some else.
I know this post is all over the place, but hopefully you kind of get what I’m saying. As consuming as life can be for each of us, we are all so much more connected and have influence than we usually think.
Make sense?

R.I.P Don LaFontaine, the movie trailer voice guy
Sep 2, 2008 Movies
In a world with movie trailers, one man would be the voice…
Don LaFontaine, the man behind over 5000 movie trailers, has passed away. More about Don:
Over the past 25 years, LaFontaine cemented his position as the “King of Voiceovers.” Aside from being the preeminent voice in the movie trailer industry, Don also worked as the voice of Entertainment Tonight and The Insider, as well as for CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox and UPN, in addition to TNT, TBS and the Cartoon Network. By conservative estimates, he voiced hundreds of thousands of television and radio spots, including commercials for Chevrolet, Pontiac, Ford, Budweiser, McDonalds, Coke, and many other corporate sponsors.
Trust me, you have heard this man’s voice. As fas as movies go, he is an icon. We’ll miss you buddy!

A new Evil Dead movie?
Aug 1, 2008 Found Online, Just Plain Awesomeness, Movies
Groovy!
First of all, if you have never seen Army of Darkness, go add it to your Netflix Queue. I’ll wait.
Ok, you’re back. Army of Darkness was the third installment in the Evil Dead series of movies. Ash, played by Bruce Campbell, is the unlikely hero that uses one-liners, wit, sarcasm, and a chainsaw attached to his arm to get himself out of horrifying situations. AOD came out back in , and has since developed quite a cult following. It’s a funny, cheesy, and entertaining horror movie sans real horror.
All that being said, it looks like Director Sam Raimi (Spiderman, Evil Dead series) is on board to do another one:
“…I’d love to make another Evil Dead picture. And actually that’s in the wheelhouse. I’d like to work on it with my brother Ivan [Raimi] when he comes up next week.”
If Bruce gets on board, we might have ourselves an awesome new installment of Evil Dead/Army of Darkness!
Hail to the king, baby!

Poster from the new Star Trek movie
Jul 18, 2008 Just Plain Awesomeness, Movies
I don’t consider myself a Trekkie, but I enjoyed the old Star Trek movies, and I am looking forward to the new one coming out. After all, JJ Abrams, the creator of LOST, is behind it, so I bet it will be good. Anyways, here is a new poster for it:
Yep, that’s Silar from Heroes playing Spock.
Read about the movie here.
