Trapped with no Wi-Fi (o no!)

I typed this Thursday night and forgot to post it then, so here it is:

——

Here’s the scenario.  I showed up 45 early to Mellow Mushroom for trivia tonight.  I have my laptop with me since I was planning to get some work done in the 45 minutes before trivia starts.  Well, I get here, and what do I discover?  The wifi is not working tonight.  Now, I don’t know how long it has been down, but the whole reason I got here early was to goof around on the internet, checking emails, writing a blog post, whatever.
Nope, now I sit here, typing this into Pages, a great word processor from Apple.  When I get home, I will put this into WordPress and publish it.  Just know that it was typed during the great Mellow Mushroom WiFi outage of 2008.

Yoforia, the frozen yogurt place next door, has a wireless network called “yoforiafreewifi”.  When you try and connect, it asks for a password.  I thought I would be sneaky and call them and ask for the password.  I did, and the girl says “Um, we don’t have wifi, but they do next door”.

Yes you do, and no they don’t!

Darn you, non-functioning WiFi!

And you too, free-wifi-with-a-password!

Starbucks agrees to WiFi with AT&T - still not free for everyone though

normal_starbucks-logo-rgb.jpgAlmost EVERY coffee shop you go to these days that is not called “Starbucks” offers free internet to anyone who comes in.  It is sort of the standard.  Why is it that Starbucks, easily the largest chain of coffee shops, charges for internet?  Sure, now if you are an AT&T customer, it will be free for you, but big deal.  Make it free like everyone else!
