WordPress Automatic Upgrade = AWESOME plugin

For anyone out there that uses the self-hosted Wordpress, you know how annoying it can be to have to upgrade your WordPress installation everytime they upgrade it.  It usually involves using your FTP client, removing some files, overwriting others.

Well, I found a plugin that does it all for you.  In just a few clicks, it backs up everything, downloads the update, and performs the upgrade automatically.  It is the other absolutely recommended WP plugin for we “self-hosters”.

Grab it here.

Comments are broken!

In an attempt to clean up my WordPress directory, I deleted the “Default” WP theme that you automatically start with. Well, I think that totally screwed up my comments, so I will be fixing that ASAP (probably this evening when I get home).

Thanks for pointing that out Jason!

Possibly the best WordPress Plugin EVER

For anyone out there that used the self-hosted WordPress blogging platform, LISTEN UP!  As you know, the way you install a plugin to your blog is to FTP the files manually.   That really stinks for those of us that can’t FTP from work (where we might just happen to do most of our blogging).  Well, there is a VERY easy cure.

There is a plugin called Plugin Central.  You have to install it the old fashioned way via FTP, but it will be the last time you have to do that.  Once installed and avtivated, you can simply get to it via the Dashboard, give it a link to a plugin .zip file, and it will automatically install it.  It has a very clean interface.  Here is a screenshot:

So, there you have it.  The most useful plugin ever.  Enjoy!

Learn from my mistakes

I somehow managed to delete my new wordpress site, but now I have it back. Once it is installed on your web server, it is NOT a good idea to start changing directories around. Trust me, it will cause a bit of headache. Anyways, I am still playing around here, and so far, I love the layout of everything. ny bloggers out there looking for an alternative to whatever you might be using, definitely give Wordpress a try.

Blogger who?

Moving (maybe)

I have stared a new website over at WordPress, and I really like their format for posting. So, I might be moving all of this content over to their servers. For you subscribers, you will really not see any difference, as the RSS feed will stay the same.

Anyone out there have any experience with Wordpress?
